Ever wanted to create a curly, voluminous mane and instead ended up falling flat? Well, the answer to curls that actually stick around could be closer than you think - in your pencil case, to be precise.

Yep, it's time to drop the fancy curling tongs, because there's a new beauty hack on the block - and the results are pretty impressive, if we do say so ourselves.

California-based Beauty vlogger, Tani Garcha, is the brains behind the hair technique, which uses just a pencil and hair tongs to create tight, wavy ringlets.

In the video shared on her Instagram, Garcha twists her hair tightly around a wooden pencil, and then uses a flat iron - straighteners to you and I - to tap along the hair.

As you can see in the video, the pencil helps creates gorgeous spirals, which preserves the shape of the curls in ways we've rarely been blessed with before.

Like Garcha says in her post, mind you use only wooden pencils, otherwise you could end up with a serious beauty malfunction on your hands, and no girl wants that.
