In an interview with Q he spoke about plans for a movie based on his life.
"I want to have an 8 Mile moment but 8 Mile meets Notting Hill," he told the radio station. Sure.
"Not gritty like Detroit but, like, Ipswich. I've got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven't come out so I could make a soundtrack."
Ok, so we sense a little banter is at play here, but back in March Ed said he had been speaking to a filmmaker he "loved" about plans for a biopic.
"I really want to make a film that I do the soundtrack for and star in - that's my next thing," he told .
"I look at a film like Notting Hill and I think that's like a brilliant benchmark, or Once. So if you were to mix Notting Hill with Once, I would say that would be a good start."
Could we hazard a guess that the filmmaker is Richard Curtis?
"I don't think I will do an album as a soundtrack, but I will definitely put together a soundtrack with a bunch of my songs on it," he added.
In the name of giving people what they want, we hope Ed follows through with this, though maybe minus the Ipswich themed soundtrack...
In the mean time, here's a whole load of other reasons why we love Ed...
