It Cosmetics' original CC cream quickly became one of the brand's cult products thanks to its high coverage and hydrating formula, with the bonus of SPF50+. The new release is the same beloved CC, but with the addition of 'illumination' aka light-reflecting pigments, to give the skin radiance without any shimmer or shine.

Dry skin with an oily forehead, plus a pale and often dull-looking complexion. Occasional spots, but generally clear skin.
WHAT I USUALLY LOOK FOR IN A CC CREAM:
I'm not usually a CC cream wearer, because I find that most of them don't offer enough coverage. I like my skin to glow, but because of my oily forehead, it's a fine balance. I'd say I definitely prefer medium to high coverage, but I don't want to suffocate my skin either.
IT COSMETICS CC+ ILLUMINATION REVIEW:
It takes a lot for a base product to worm its way into my cosmetics bag. I'm extremely picky when it comes to foundations and tinted moisturisers, and currently only rotate between two (one for when I'm tanned, one for when I'm not.) I'd tried the original It Cosmetics CC cream before, and while I did like it, it didn't make the cut. I do think it was good coverage and a nice product, but I found the tone to be a bit 'flat' so I was ready to put the newbie to the test...
I chose the shade 'Light', which matched my complexion. I love a pump bottle, because it means I can dispense product straight onto my beauty blender and I was a fan of the metallic pink tube, too. So good so far.
The application was smooth, the texture is really creamy and feels luxurious on the skin. I found it balled a little on my oily forehead, but nothing a little primer beforehand couldn't fix.
In terms of coverage, it was a big tick for me. I would say medium with just one swipe, but can be built up to high if layered over troubling areas. I did still use concealer for under my eyes, but I didn't need it anywhere else. Overall, my skin looked fresh and healthy, but not too made up.
Slight dewy, with a bit of sheen but nothing overly offensive in the shimmer stakes. After a few hours of wear, I did need to powder my forehead, but the longevity on the rest of my skin was pretty impressive.
It may have lost a little of its dewiness throughout the day, but when comparing a fresh application to eight hours of wear, it's expected.
I've now been wearing it for a week, which is quite a miracle for me, and I have to say my skin is looking and feeling pretty happy. Plus, I can't help but feel smug and proud that I now wear an SPF 50+ every day.[article id="A4VdX9w9RR2"]
I think the illumination formula definitely beats the OG. You get the same great coverage that made it cult, but the light-reflecting particles give your skin added freshness and a dewy finish that's natural but noticeable.
