GLAMOUR columnist Jen Atkin just got real about how to style your hair

The ultimate guide for getting A-list hair at home.

07 May 2018

If you follow Kim, Khloe, Kourtney Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, and Jennifer Lopez on Instagram, you'll be familiar with Jen Atkin.

The hairdresser, who was dubbed “The Most Influential Hairstylist in the World" by the New York Times, is the woman every major celebrity has on speed dial. Oh, and she just so happens to be GLAMOUR's new columnist.

After sharing her ultimate hair mantras last month, Jen is back with her foolproof guide to emulating her client's hair at home - no matter what type of hair you have.

Jen begins by breaking down her top tips for styling every different type of hair, from thin to thick. Take it away, Jen...

Thick

To style thick hair, I swear by is flat iron waves. Run them over hair to smooth it out and also add a pretty texture. I love to use the OUAI Memory Mist before flat ironing to protect the hair from heat styling and also help prolong the hairstyle.

Thin

The perfect style for thin hair is a super voluminous blow out. The OUAI Volume Spray is the holy grail for girls' with thin hair. Apply Volume Spray at the roots onto damp hair and rough dry the hair in the opposite direction so it adds extra volume and helps the hair to appear fuller. Simple, right?

Curly

The ideal style for curly locks is a natural air-dried finished or perfectly diffused curls. The OUAI Air Dry Foam is the go-to for those curly girls. Apply Air Dry Foam onto damp hair by scrunching the foam into the hair and then let it air dry. It really is that easy.

Now you know how to style your specific hair type, read on for Jen's top tips for achieving her A-list clientele's hair.

The slick Bella bun

No one pulls off super sleek hair quite like Bella Hadid. Whether she's rocking a sleek pony or a sophisticated chignon, Bella makes the wet look work. Jen reveals how you, too, can do the same in the comfort of your home.
