Our favourite character of all time is coming back to the big screen and we couldn't be more excited! Elle Woods, who definitely became a feminist icon, despite all odds, has truly inspired our millennial generation and showed us where determination and hard work will get you.
Back in June Reese Witherspoon confirmed that she will star and produce the sequel. That's right, Legally Blonde 3 is definitely happening!
Taking to Instagram to break the news to her fans and confirm that the rumours were actually true, Reese posted a short video of her chilling on a float on her pool in true Elle Woods style. She captioned the shot: "It’s true... #LegallyBlonde3".
Do freak out!
Deadline, later confirmed that is was all "coming together quickly" as Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, who wrote the script for the first film, have commenced writing Legally Blonde 3. Platt Productions who produced Legally Blonde, will join forces with Reese's production company, Hello Sunshine, to produce the sequel.
You may not know this but Kirsten and Karen - the writers from the first Legally Blonde movie - coming together is a huge deal. The duo is responsible for the scripts Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You and House Bunny, and with credits on She’s the Man and The Ugly Truth. Meaning we're in for a BIG treat if this actually happens. And with Reese producing it, you know the plot will be very empowering.
Now, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Reese has revealed some cheeky teasers. Well sort of, “Oh, it’s gonna be so fun! I got to go to a meeting the other day where we talked about all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters. I mean, I got so excited just in the meeting. I was like, ‘This is gonna be good.’”
COME ON, REESE! Which characters are returning? We *need* to know already. Is it too late for us to be cast as Bruiser's dog walker? We. Will. Do. Anything. And we mean ANYTHING!
So get working on that bend and snap, because Elle Woods will take on the millennial world - and we can't wait.
