When we first saw the news that had landed her first-ever beauty campaign, it seemed hard to believe that the iconic supermodel hadn't been the face of one before.
Thankfully, all that is set to change, as Campbell has been snapped up by NARS Cosmetics as the new face of their spring 2019 campaign, and, as we all expected, she looks absolutely phenomenal.
The supermodel announced the new partnership with a stunning close-up photograph on Instagram, shot by NARS founder and French photographer, Francois Nars.
As a longtime friend of Nars, the collaboration appears to a be a great fit. "When I first started it was hard to find colors that truly matched my skin tone,” Campbell told Us Weekly. “I remember [François] made me my own foundation.”
"Naomi is a living icon and brings such strong personality to the camera,” Nars told . “She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style.”
As one of the original supermodels, Campbell is no stranger to breaking boundaries in the fashion industry. In 1988, she was the first black woman to appear on the cover of French Vogue, and a year later, she was the first black model to grace American Vogue's famous September issue.
Despite being a household name, Campbell has spoken out before about the fact that she's never been asked to front a major beauty campaign due to racial discrimination.
"I've never done [a beauty campaign] for anyone," she told The Evening Standard in 2017. "People say, 'Oh you've got beautiful skin' and yet I've never done one."
According to US Weekly, the new collaboration will focus on the Radiance Empowered Range, which includes inclusive foundation shades, as well as a Skin Deep Eye Palette and Super Radiant Booster.
Two words: absolutely flawless.
