Where? Hipster hangout Broadway Market
Cocktails Vs… Dana Karlson, Fashion Editor
What's the crowd? Hackney locals head here with friends after work for a drink and quick bite. We also peeped a couple people nursing pints from Stories' beer menu as they caught up with their favourite books. The Mothership team, who've created The Book Club and Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch, are "fusing boozing with brain power" in their latest venture - and thanks to the eclectic artwork and cosy nooks scattered around the bar we felt right at home.
We ate… Two polar opposites - to get a feel for this laidback bar. I had a sweet potato and chickpea burger with chunky chips, while my other half went for a meatlover's delight, opting for a burger packed with chorizo topped with sweet roast peppers and manchego cheese.
We drank… Cocktails: Lovely and Shaggy Dog were favourites, but Sob is a good bet for those who like alcohol with an extra kick.
Don't forget to ask for… The grilled piri piri prawn and squid - it's oh-so fresh and not too spicy, and definitely the best thing we ate.
The perfect +1 is… A close mate or date, looking for a low-key night.
140 Verdict: Grab a drink and a bite and make some new Stories at this Broadway Market bar.
