Another day, another beauty hack has gone viral. Feeding our insatiable appetite for beauty DIYs, health and beauty bloggers are always finding new ways to repurpose household item as beauty miracle products. Some are borderline genius, others... we'll let you be the judge.
The latest tall-tale sweeping the world of beauty is the claim that you can tighten saggy breasts with the universal bathroom cupboard staple, toothpaste. Yes, that's right, toothpaste.
This beauty myth first came to life when YouTuber Editorial Naturalbeauty556 uploaded a video claiming that a mixture of toothpaste, plain flour, egg whites, and grated cucumber will tighten sagging breasts.
While it might sound more like a recipe for a Bake Off gone wrong than a beauty treatment, the YouTuber claims that this home remedy can be used as an alternative to surgery to tighten and firm saggy breasts. In the video, she explains that when applied directly to your breasts this mixture will ‘tighten up your breasts like really, really crazy’.
Titled 'Tighten Sagging Breast in Just 5 Days Using Toothpaste – No Joke’ the video has so gone viral, gaining over 7 and a half million views and counting. Attracting the attention of millions of women who looking for a surgery-free way to boost their bosom, the video doesn't include any scientific or medically based evidence that this beauty hack will work. While women may have commented on the video they are excited to try the homespun DIY themselves, its unclear whether anyone has and what kind of results they achieved.

While you might be tempted to break out the Colgate and give it a try for yourself, chances are the only change you'll notice will be minty scented breasts. If an instant breast lift using items you already have on your bathroom sink sounds too good to be true, that's because it is.
Toothpaste is super drying, which is why some apply it to spots to dry out excess oil and sebum, so applying it to your breasts might create an immediate tight feeling (apply a dot to the back of your hand and leave it to sit for a few minutes and you'll see exactly what we mean) but there is no evidence to suggest that toothpaste has any effect on skin restoration at all. As for plain flour and eggs whites, great in cakes, not so great for your breasts.
What's more, why's everyone so bothered about having super perky breasts anyway, don't they know that saggy boobs are in?

The toothpaste tightening treatment isn't the only beauty hack spreading like wildfire across the internet. YouTube channel Susana Home Remedies has also jumped on the toothpaste bandwagon, claiming that applying toothpaste to your nipples and Vaseline to your breasts will actually encourage your breasts to grow.
While Vaseline leaves a high shimmer finish that might leave your breasts looking larger and fuller, this flattering illusion won't have any effect on actual the size or shape of your breasts.
Our verdict? Unless minty skin is the effect you're after, you'd be better saving your toothpaste for your teeth.
