Toners. We've all heard of them, but how many of us know what they actually are? Luckily, we're about to solve all your toner queries, as well as recommending a few of our favourites to incorporate into your skincare regime.
When they first arrived on the skincare scene, toners were very harsh products, with high alcohol contents to reduce oil production. These days, however, they're far more sophisticated and are able to address a string of skin concerns.
Designed to be used right after your cleanser, a toner is the first leave-on step of your regime. Depending on the active ingredients, the formula can begin to replenish moisturiser, prepare the skin for the serum step, exfoliate dull skin, remove residual impurities or gently reduce oil production.
With such a vast array of toners available and an even more vast range of ingredients, it's important to pick one which suits your skin's needs.
Here are a few of our favourites for different skin types.
