Stephen Moyer (Stephen Emery) is an Essex boy and his passion for acting began in local theatre in Brentwood & Chelmsford. It was here that he first made a name for himself with his own theatre company "The Reject Society", where he directed and starred in numerous shows. Stephen went on to train at LAMDA and began his professional acting career on stage, including three years with the prestigious RSC, and touring in Romeo & Juliet with the Oxford Stage in the title role of Romeo. British television credits include leading roles in Channel 4 dramas Men Only, NY-LON, Five's Menace and the BBC's The Grand, Lilies and Empathy, as well as a number of guest roles in popular shows such as Cold Feet, Midsomer Murders and Waking the Dead. U.S. television credits include leading roles in Princess of Thieves with Keira Knightley, Uprising with David Schwimmer, Hank Azaria and Donald Sutherland, the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated The Starter Wife, starring Debra Messing, and, most famously, in Alan Ball's Golden Globe-nominated show, True Blood, as the 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton. On 5 August 2009, it was confirmed that Stephen had become engaged to his True Blood co-star Anna Paquin. Although kept a secret at the time, they had been dating since filming the series' pilot in 2007. Stephen and Anna now divide their time between homes in London and L.A., where production of the new series of True Blood continues. The couple are expecting their first child together; Stephen already has a son, Billy, and a daughter, Lilac from previous relationships.
