It's fair to say it's been an epic few weeks for fashion news - first Emma Hill leaves Mulberry, and now Hugo Boss have announced that feted American designer Jason Wu will take up the newly created role of Artistic Director for BOSS Womenswear.
The 30 year old Taiwan-born designer, only founded his eponymous label in 2007, but quickly become a highlight of the NYFW schedule, with his feminine dresses loved by Michelle Obama as well as other A-listers.
In his new role, Wu will assume responsibility for all aspects of the main womenswear ready-to-wear and accessories in the Huge Boss Group, working from the German labels' headquarters in Metzingen as well as opening a studio for the brand in New York.
Luckily for Mobama and other Wu fans, he will continue to work on his own line - with his first womenswear collection for BOSS debuting for Pre Fall 2014, followed by his first runway show at New York Fall/Winter Fashion Week in February 2014.
"We are absolutely delighted to have an outstanding talent like Jason Wu on board," says Claus Dietrich Lahrs, CEO of HUGO BOSS. "This will generate a powerful and creative statement for BOSS Womenswear and show our commitment to focus even more on the female side of the brand."
It's an exciting move for the New York based designer, and we can't wait to see the changes he has planned for the German label (famed for its impeccable tailoring) - which include developing "a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand's authority in menswear".
