We all know how important it is to nourish our bodies with wholesome foods and to exercise regularly, but what about what we’re putting onto our bodies? Our skin absorbs the ingredients in our skincare, so it’s kind of contradictory if we’re eating a healthy diet but we’re at the same time absorbing chemicals from the products we smoother onto our faces everyday.
I have noticed how powerful and effective plant-based ingredients can be to our skin, and I have been trying and testing many different brands to let you know which ones really work, including makeup, affordable skincare, and something a little bit luxury.
Botanics really know what they’re doing with plants having launched the skincare range in 1995. This is a beauty brand dedicated to creating products made from natural ingredients, that is accessible to all with a range of moderately priced products for every need.
Botanics work with both scientists and botanists to make sure the plant extracts are authenticated and are sourced sustainably. I love how this brand is accessible to all, with a much lower price point than most natural and organic skincare products out there, and caters to all skin types including sensitive and mature.
My current favourite product is the which hydrates skin, locking in moisture for hours. Infused with rosehip oil, boasting rich omega properties and essential fatty acids, it’s like a nourishing meal for the skin. Apply a few drops to a freshly cleansed face under your favourite night cream and relax as your troubles from the day gently sail away.

2. RMS Beauty
When it comes to natural makeup, RMS is without doubt one of the top brands I recommend to friends looking for cosmetics they can trust is going to deliver. There’s plenty of natural makeup out there, but it’s so important to find what works for you, so that you feel confident with the formulas and pigmentations.
The founder of RMS, Rose-Marie Swift, has been a makeup artist for more than 35 years, so she knows a thing or two about good makeup! Rose-Marie decided to create a line of organic cosmetics after discovering how harmful some cosmetics can be. RMS Beauty creates products that are as pure as possible for women wanting to feel their best without having a negative impact on their health.
If you try only one product, let it be the . This warm and subtle highlighter is a balmy consistency that melts into the skin, creating that perfect dewy finish for all skin tones, and giving you that Summer glow that we all want!
Caudalie was founded by the daughter of a family in Bordeaux that produced wine from their vineyard. Mathilde discovered how the grape vine is extremely high in antioxidants and sought to make a natural skincare line made from these powerful plant-based ingredients. I have been lucky enough to visit the vineyard and meet Mathilde; she is an inspiring woman, and to see how authentic the origins of the brand are makes me love it even more.
Caudalie is a great place to start with natural skincare. It looks and feels like a luxury French pharmaceutical brand, but has the added benefits of using essential and plant oils extracted from fruits, flowers or leaves that are clinically proven. Every aspect of the grape vine that would normally be disposed of in the wine making process is used within the products, including the grape seed, the vine itself, the sap and grape water.
One of my favourite products (and I'm not the only one because it’s a cult favourite), is the made from 100% natural ingredients, providing an instant radiance that can be used underneath or over makeup.
4. Salt of the Earth
Stay clean and fresh all day long with a natural deodorant. You may not think it’s possible to keep dry and odour-free for 24 hours with a product that is free from chemicals, parabens, alcohol and fragrances, but I have been using this product for years and I can safely say it works perfectly. , and I apply it once in the morning simply by wetting it under the tap and then rubbing it on the underarms. I never reapply throughout the day, and since using it I have never had a problem with an unwanted smell, or white marks on clothes, and my skin can breathe because it doesn’t block pores. Oh and the best part is it lasts for months!

5. Seed to Skin
This is my favourite luxury item to recommend to you if you’re feeling like treating yourself this month. Seed to Skin really does feel like true luxury - everything from the textures and scents, to the bottles. The brand was born from the 13th century Borgo Santo Pietro estate in Tuscany where the nature inspired a skincare range using the ingredients grown on the estate.
Due to many of the ingredients being sourced on the land, it makes it incredibly sustainable. The exfoliator, , contains peppermint oil and lavender to rejuvenate and balance skin, and the grain of the exfoliant is perfect at polishing and removing dead skin.
