I tried a non-surgical nose job and this is what happened

Candid account.

In our new series, women who've tried cosmetic procedures and treatments for themselves share their candid accounts of exactly what happened. Here, Sofia Calzini details her non-surgical nose job experience, a 10-minute treatment that uses injectables to alter the shape of the nose with little downtime.

"I've dreamt of having a nose job since I was about 12. I hated the little bump in the bridge of my nose and the way it dipped down. I discussed my insecurity with my friends but they claimed they couldn't see my nose the way I did. But how I saw it was all that mattered and I found myself shying away from photos and thinking more and more about having a nose job.

So, when a friend told me there was a non-surgical nose job available that treated the nose with filler, I rushed to my computer to Google it. I looked into it extensively and quickly discovered it was much cheaper than a surgical nose job, and lasts up to a year, which sounded great. I watched a few videos of people having it done so I knew what to expect and then I went to book it in.

I booked an appointment with Dr Saleena Zimri from Skin Doctor Clinics, Leeds, who advised that my nose could be corrected non surgically using dermal filler. After sterilising my nose, and the area around it with a special antiseptic liquid, a small amount of local anaesthetic was applied to numb the skin.

Once it was confirmed that I could feel nothing, the filler was injected in small amounts and into the precise locations of my nose where it needed to be filled. By applying the filler gradually, in small amounts at a time, Dr Zimri advised she would have total control over the shape and contours of my revised nose.

She then very gently massaged the filler to re-shape my nose. During the procedure, I was fully awake. I held a mirror and was in complete control of the procedure's results. The whole thing took around 10 minutes.
Because my nose was numbed I honestly felt no discomfort, other than the sharp scratch when the local anaesthetic was first applied to my nose.

After the treatment my nose was a little red but that faded in a few hours. I've had my lips done before, and I have to say this nose treatment was considerably more comfortable. I could see the results right away, and I felt great.

Dr Zimri advised that I could go straight back to work if I wanted to. She told me to be careful not to knock my nose or rub it hard when cleansing. Dr Zimri suggested that if I wear glasses or sunglasses, to avoid wearing them for lengthy periods, or blow my nose hard just for a couple of weeks so that the filler would have a chance to settle into the places where she had carefully positioned it.

I was given an aftercare booklet after my treatment, which I read and followed the guidelines for. It was pretty easy, and I didn't get any bruising. I was told not to drink alcohol for three days after treatment, which was fine for me, and I'm sure helped me not to bruise, but I expect some people might find that a bit annoying.

I can't believe that something that took only 10 minutes could change the whole way my nose looked and how I feel about my face now."
