Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon is a critically-acclaimed American actress and film producer. She made her debut with The Man In The Moon (1991), and starred in several TV shows before landing a string of blockbuster hits including Pleasantville (1998), Cruel Intentions (1999), and Election (1999), for which she won a Golden Globe. In 2010, Reese appeared as a guest star in Friends, but it was 2001 which marked a career turning-point for the actress, as she scored the part of Elle Woods in box office smash Legally Blonde.

Her biggest success came when she played June Carter in Walk The Line (2005) - a performance that won her a Best Actress Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2015, Reese earned her second Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Cheryl Strayed in Wild (2014). Also in 2014, Reese produced the thriller Gone Girl which was an absolute success. Reese first founded her production company in 2000, and in 2016 Reese and Otter Media formed Hello Sunshine, a "joint venture focused on telling female-driven stories on film, TV and digital platforms".

In 2017, she co-produced and starred in the hit HBO drama series Big Little Lies, for which she received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie and Outstanding Limited Series, winning the latter as a Producer.

As for her love life Reese married her Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan Phillippe in 1999 - the couple divorced in 2007. Reese and Ryan had two children, Ava and Deacon. A two-year relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal followed, but in early 2010, Reese began dating talent agent Jim Toth, and the pair married in March 2011. Reese and Jim have one son together, Tennessee James, who was born in September 2012.
